Themis Program (Joint Certificate in International and Business Law)
The Law Department at Freie Universität Berlin has been working in cooperation with the best business law and international law oriented faculties in the International Legal Network of Excellence since 2006/07, the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi (Milan), the Universidad Ramón Llull de Barcelona – ESADE Law School and the Université Paris Est Créteil - Val de Marne. Lateron, the Universiteit Maastricht, the Singapore Management University, the Business University Vienna, and the University of St. Gallen joined the program.
This contact gives students of the four participating universities the possibility to be awarded the university certificate of the network „Joint Certificate in International and Business Law“. The business and international law oriented studies and practice programme extends over one academic year and is divided into three main components:
In the winter semester the programme participants complete a business and international law oriented study abroad at a partner university for 24-30 ECTS credit points.
In addition, during the lecture free period an internship of at least six weeks in an international office with a business law emphasis, in the Law Department of an internationally operating firm, or in an international authority or organisation should be completed.
All programme participants come together for a one week block seminar at one of the five European network universities during each spring.
