Research at the Department covers the law from ancient times until today in a national, European and global perspective.

Professors

Legal research in Germany is organised around and shaped by professors as heads of research teams. At the Department, 19 full professors and 7 junior professors teach and study the law.

Doctorate and Post Doc

Tradition requires not only a doctoral thesis of scholars seeking a career in legal sciences, but also a second book - the habilitation thesis.

Cooperations

Researchers from the Department of Law work with colleagues from other departments of the FU and from research institutions outside the university in the collaborative research center SFB 700, the research network TOPOI and other projects.
