Cynical International Law?

The Working Group of Young Scholars in Public International Law (Arbeitskreis junger Völkerrechtswissenschaftler*innen – AjV) and the German Society of International Law (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationales Recht – DGIR) are organizing a joint conference at Freie Universität Berlin, on 6-7 September 2019, on the topic of

Cynical International Law?

Abuse and Circumvention in Public International and European Law

The conference's concept is specifically designed to enable an exchange between younger and more established academics and practitioners.

The conference is dedicated to a highly topical issue: the cynicism which finds expression, inter alia, in the abuse and circumvention of international and European law. Professor Gerry Simpson (LSE) introduced this topic with a keynote speech, which is available online here. The Völkerrechtsblog accompanied the conference online.

The organizers invited submissions of abstracts (Call for Papers: Deutsch | English). The contributions presented at the conference will published in an edited volume.

The organizers would like to express their gratitude to the sponsors of the conference. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the organizers.
