The Free University of Berlin and the ELMC
The Freie Universität Berlin has continuously participated in the European Law Moot Court since 1995. In doing so, the students of the Freie Universität have achieved great successes. Nearly all participants qualified for the oral rounds in the Regional Finals – most recently in Leiden (2012/2013), Luzern (2011/2012) and Barcelona (2010/2011). The Freie Universität has competed against teams from all over the world in Lisbon, Naples, Ljubljana, Dublin, Kiev and even in Luxembourg before the ECJ over the past years.
On this occasion the teams of the FU have regularly achieved remarkable results and have often reached the final rounds of the Regional Finals, thus being among the best eight teams worldwide (most recently in the campaigns of 2003/2004, 2006/2007, 2008/2009). In 2012/2013 the team qualified for the All European Final in Luxembourg and was amongst the four best teams of the competition (most recently in the campaigns of 1998/1999, 2002, 2003).
The greatest success for the FU Berlin was achieved in 2008/2009, when the team of the Freie Universität won in the competition of the advocates general in the All European Final at the ECJ in Luxembourg.
Since the beginning of participation in the European Law Moot Court the Freie Universität Berlin has succeeded in keeping up with the considerable competition from all parts of Europe, the United States and even Asia. This does not only highlight the competitive preparation at the FU Berlin, but especially the commitment and the quality of the works of the participating students.
