Professor David Abraham unterrichtet an unserer Partneruniversität University of Miami School of Law Sachenrecht, Einwanderungs- und Staatsbürgerschaftsrecht sowie rechtssoziologische Kurse. Bevor er Professor der Rechtswissenschaft wurde, lehrte er am Fachbereich Geschichte der Princeton University. Im Sommersemester 2010 war Professor Abraham Mitglied der American Academy in Berlin. Am Fachbereich Rechtswissenschaft der Freien Universität Berlin hält er im Sommersemester 2012 die folgende Lehrveranstaltung:

 

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Law

This course will offer an introduction to the central principles of US Immigration and Citizenship Law. In particular, it will address statutory and court determinations in the areas of: Plenary Power, Administrative Agencies, Immigrant Admissions Categories and Criteria, Naturalization, Non-Immigrant Visas, Exclusion, Deportation, Detention, and Relief from Deportation. Asylum and Refugee policies may also be addressed. In addition, the cultural and political aspects of membership will be examined and some comparisons with Germany will be undertaken. A close reading of the Immigration and Naturalization Code will accompany discussion of social and political issues. English-language materials will be posted, and there will be classroom discussion as well as lecture. Grades will be based on a comprehensive final exam.
