European Energy Law (Module 7)

Vasil Stoynov is an advisor on EU affairs to the Minister for Energy in Bulgaria. As an advisor, he is responsible for the relations with the EU institutions, coordination on policy matters in the energy sector, the participation in the legislative process and the implementation of EU law.  He is also a Legal Director at KNPP-NB, which is a project company for the development of two new nuclear units at the existing nuclear power plant in Kozloduy, Bulgaria. In that capacity, he ensures the legal support for all project-related activities of a project with regional impact on the energy security and decarbonisation in South-East Europe. Before he was a legal and policy officer in the unit responsible for renewables in the European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy where he dealt with the topics of financing renewables and management of EU instruments for cooperation and investment in renewable energy projects. He is an alumni from the MBL program (class of 2015/2016) and holds a PhD from Sofia University with a topic on state aid in the energy sector.
