Blended Learning

Blended Learning is an educational approach combining conventional teaching and learning methods with computer-mediated activities. Thus, face-to-face classroom teaching is supported and supplemented by E-learning tools such as wikis and blogs.

Blackboard is the central E-learning platform at Freie Universität Berlin. It offers an array of digital services such as content collections, interactive exercises and forums with chat options, thus facilitating a versatile and efficient learning environment for students, scholars and lecturers alike.

The MBL-FU is one of the very few postgraduate programmes in Germany that consistently implements the Blended Learning concept in its curriculum. Whereas on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays students attend lectures, tutorials and research seminars in class, the rest of the week they are given assignments and project works via the university's E-learning platform. Both, classroom activities and E-learning segments are integral and compulsory components of our curriculum and assessed accordingly as academic performances.

Upon enrolment at Freie Universität Berlin, every student is granted access to Blackboard. The E-learning contents specifically prepared for our programme, however, are only available for MBL-FU students.
