Dr. Robert Klotz

Robert Klotz is a partner in the Antitrust & Competition Practice Group in the Brussels office of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP. He was part of the team opening this office in 2015, joining the firm from Mayer Brown in Brussels.
From 1998 to 2007 he was an EU official within DG Competition of the European Commission, dealing with high level antitrust cases, first in the Telecommunications and Post Unit, and subsequently in the Energy and Water Unit.
In his current role with Sheppard Mullin, he concentrates on all aspects of EU and German competition and regulatory law and represents clients before the European Commission and national authorities, with a particular focus on network industries, such as energy, telecommunications, post and transport.
In addition, he is an academic lecturer in three renowned German universities, as well as co-editor of a standard competition law treatise (ed. NOMOS) and of a quarterly competition law review (CoRe, ed. Lexxion).
In 2016 Mr. Klotz was acknowledged as a leading lawyer for competition law by “Who's Who Legal”. He has also been recognized by various legal directories (JUVE, Legal 500 Europe, Chambers Global) for several years.
