Regulating Asset Managers
As part of the Collaborative Research Center TR 224 funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the project looks into the operation and effects of the regulation of alternative investment funds established in the EU and in the U.S. in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Specifically, the project investigates the opportunities for regulatory arbitrage under the Alternative Investment Fund Manager Directive 2011/61/EU and the extent to which they are being exploited by hedge fund managers. A second study examines the rise of loan funds as an alternative to traditional loan origination by banks.
