Federal Ministery for Economic Cooperation and Development
Verena Wiesner is a desk officer in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in the division for Trade, Globalization and Investment. Here she works on social standards in international supply chains, implementation of core labour standards, and the international framework for foreign direct investment.
Prior to joining the BMZ in 2008, Verena worked as Senior Research Fellow for the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public and International Law in Heidelberg. She was in charge of the Africa projects of the Institute and specialized in Comparative Constitutional and Human Rights Law.
Verena also worked amongst others with the ILO, UNEP and major law firms. She studied law in Trier, Salamanca and Heidelberg.
