María José Luque, born in December 1984, studied at the Faculty of Law, Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. Besides her studies, she worked as a legal assistant in the law firm "Quevedo y Ponce" and in the tax authority of the Revenue Office South Coast, Ecuador.
Since April 2010, she is a DAAD scholarship holder. As part of her research as a doctoral fellow, she completed a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) at the Law Faculty of the University of Potsdam and produced a thesis on the EU accession to the ECHR and the impact on the protection of individual rights.
Luque’s main interests lie in International law, European law and international economic law. In October 2011 she was admitted as a PhD student at the Law Faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg with Professor Dr. Markus Krajewski. Luque is writing her dissertation in the field of investment law in South America.
