The course provides an overview of the current discussion on the general principles and most important concepts of European contract law. Recent rulings and legislation in the member states will be discussed. In the law of obligations, the principles of European contract law (recent attempt to restate a European contract law by the Lando-Commission) and the Common Frame of Reference are taken as a “common starting point”. Further attention will be given to the ongoing discussion of a future unified European contract law.
