Dr. Kathrin Petersen is Seconded National Expert with the European Commission’s Legal Service. She studied law at the University of Tier, University of Reading (UK) and University of Potsdam, where she also obtained her PhD and worked as assistant lecturer. After working as a lawyer in Berlin, she took up work for the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy in 2007 and has represented Germany before the European Courts in more than 80 cases during her work for the department of European Affairs. Dr. Petersen also worked at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany at the EU. She is currently seconded to the Legal Service of the European Commission. Dr. Petersen’s lecture on “EU Fundamental Market Freedoms” focusses on the freedom of persons i.e. the free movement of workers, the freedom to provide services and the freedom of establishment.
