Frequently Asked Questions About the Course Registration Procedure in Campus Management

It will be technically possible to sign up for courses from the first workday of the new semester. However, we recommend that you wait with your course registration until you have taken part in our Study Info Session during the orientation period. During the orientation days at the Law Department we will show you the Campus Managment registration procedure and we will help you, should you encounter any problems.

Please check out the course description of that particular course which is available from the website Courses for Exchange Students. You will find that information under the headline "Restricted Enrollment".

No. The places are not allocated according to the principle "first come, first served". Please just make sure that you don't miss the deadlines.

Places in courses with a limited number of participants are allocated according to a random procedure after that particular registration deadline. The results will be available on the following day.

In courses without a limited number of participants, each student will get a place, provided that he/she signs up in time.

No. You cannot sign up for language courses through Campus Management.

After your have received the results of your placement test, you will have to sign up for your preferred course at the Language Center.

You will need an active FU account in order to log on to Campus Management for your course enrollment. Please discuss with the FU Incoming Team (incoming@fu-berlin.de) whether they will be able to activate your FU account before the end of the registration deadline for courses with a limited number of participants.

Should this not be possible, you will only have the chance to sign up for courses without a limitation in the number of participants. However, you might still be lucky enough to get a spot in a course with a limited number of participants, should there still be places left after the registration deadline, or should another student drop such a course. In order to find out if there are left-over places, please log onto Campus Management regularly. Those places will be allocated according to the rule "first come, first served".

Your late arrival will have no negative impact on your registration for courses without a limited number of participants. The registration deadline for those courses expires on the third Friday of the lecture period.

Please

  • choose the option "Alle Studiengangsbestandteile" (all parts of the study program) in the drop down menu and
  • de-activate the option "nur empfohlene Module anzeigen" (show only recommended modules).

Otherwise you will only see the modules for first semester or second semester students, indeed.

You will find all courses that you have been admitted to in your timetable (in German "Stundenplan) on Campus Management. This information will be made available after the places have been automatically allocated, probably on the Saturday after the registration deadline.

You will still have a chance to get a place in courses with a limited number of participants, should there still be places left after the registration deadline, or should another student drop such a course. In order to find out if there are places available, please log onto the system regularly. Those left-over places will be allocated according to the rule "first come, first served" until the closing date for courses with no seat limits (which is the third Friday after the start of the lecture period).

If this is a course with a limited number of participants, you will not be allowed to take part in the course sessions.

However, if this is a course where the number of participants is not limited, you can attend the lessons, even though you haven't signed up for this course in Campus Management so far.

Students who drop a course via Campus Management are automatically de-registered from the exam. Students who do not drop a course via Campus Management and do not take the exam, are going to finish this course with a non-passing grade (0 points).

You might have selected a week which doesn't fall into the lecture period and where no courses are taking place.

In exceptional cases it may also be possible that the schedule of this particular course hasn't been made available on Campus Management.

Please also keep in mind that the places in courses with a limited number of participants are only allocated after this particular registration deadline has expired so that you cannot see this course in your timetable before the day after the registration has been closed.
